Julia Burlaca

Undergraduate Student, Level IV

Julia is a fourth-year Honours Health Sciences student at McMaster University. Her interest in immunology began after taking an introductory immunology course in second year and seeing how complex and influential the immune system truly is. She became especially fascinated by NK cells and the role that they could play in cancer treatment after being introduced to this topic through a cancer immunotherapy course in her third year.

Currently, Julia is working with Tyrah to investigate the role that expression of CD56 and CD16 plays in determining NK cell function by comparing the phenotype, metabolism, and function of regulatory uterine NK cells and peripheral blood NK cells pre- and post-expansion.
